Is Proof-of-Work better than Proof-of-Stake?

Each has tradeoffs. PoW provides stronger censorship resistance, fairer distribution, and no 'rich get richer' dynamics. PoS is more energy-efficient but centralizes around large stakers and is more vulnerable to regulatory pressure. For financial freedom and decentralization, PoW is superior; for pure efficiency, PoS wins.

  • PoW: Stronger censorship resistance
  • PoW: Fairer distribution (no pre-mine advantage)
  • PoW: Anonymous, permissionless participation
  • PoS: More energy efficient
  • PoS: Centralizes around large stakers
  • PoS: Validators can be regulated/pressured
